The Art of Wellbeing – creating, better ways to mental health
Celebrating Mental Health Week 5 – 12 October 2024
Mental health issues affect more than one in five Australians every year, so it is important to encourage Tasmanians to stop and think about their mental wellbeing. Mental Health Week creates an opportunity for people to think about the ways in which we can enhance our social and emotional wellbeing by building our personal resilience and support networks. Research has consistently shown that reconnecting with our inner artist can bring tangible benefits to mental health. And the best part is that almost every creative medium can improve wellbeing. From painting to poetry, art is a powerful tool helping those who make it – and those who observe it. Attending as little as one arts event per year can improve a person’s mental health. The Art of Wellbeing exhibitions aim to connect Richmond Futures program participants with their community, celebrate their talent, highlight the mental health benefits of creating art and promote awareness around mental health and wellbeing. |
